One of my favourite songs in the history of pop music is ‘Everlasting Love’, written by Mac Gayden and Buzz Cason; my favourite version is the one by Love Affair from 1967. Steve Ellis, the band’s lead singer, died on 30 October at the age of 76.
Overlooking my survey of the music I loved in October, I can conclude that, as you get older, there is a certain nostalgia underlying your choice of contemporary music – a nostalgia for the music you grew up with.
As you get older, the subcutaneous fat around your eyes decreases and your eyelids change, making your eyes appear smaller. As you get older, your gum tissue becomes less elastic and more fragile. Etc. But it is true that the heart muscle can gradually become thicker and larger as you get older. Probably that explains a lot. The older I get, the more easily I’m moved. However diverse the music listed below may be, these are tracks that really touch my heart.
And yes, Juan Atkins, one of the founding fathers of techno music died on October 31, at the age of 64. If you were brought up as a Catholic, you’ll know that today is November 2, the day on which we remember all those who have passed away. With that I mind, enjoy.
16 acts are new to this platform. Play loud, as usual.
